Mobile Application and Location Data
Our mobile application (ServiceFactor) collects precise location data (GPS and network-based) to enable real-time technician tracking during active work sessions, including when the app is running in the background.
What location data we collect
Depending on usage, the app may collect foreground location data while the app is actively in use, and background location data when the app is running in the background during an active work session.
Why we collect location data
Location data is collected to track field technicians during active work hours, provide real-time technician monitoring for workforce management, and ensure uninterrupted tracking during active duty sessions. All location data is used exclusively to support legitimate field service operations and is not used for personal surveillance, marketing, or any other purpose.
When location tracking starts and stops
Location tracking begins only after the user logs into the application, grants the required location permissions, and starts an active work session using the Check-in feature. Tracking automatically stops when the user checks out from the work session or logs out of the application. If location permission is denied, tracking will not be enabled.
Background location access
The app requires background location access to provide continuous tracking when the app is minimized or when the user switches to other applications (such as navigation or calling apps) during working hours. Without background location access, the app cannot provide reliable real-time tracking, which is a core feature of the service. When background location tracking is active, the app displays a persistent notification informing the user that their location is being accessed.
Data sharing
Location data collected during active work sessions is accessible to the employer or client company that manages your account within the ServiceFactor platform. We do not share location data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data retention
Location data from completed work sessions is retained for the duration of the subscription term and deleted or anonymized within ninety (90) days after account termination, consistent with our general data retention practices described below.
User controls
Users can allow or deny location permissions at any time through the app's permission request screens or through their device location settings. The application requests "Allow all the time" location permission only when necessary to support continuous tracking during active work sessions.
Your Privacy Choices
If you are a resident of California or another state with comparable privacy rights, you may request to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or opt out of certain data disclosures, by contacting us at privacy@servicefactor.com.
